I am a retired elementary teacher and most of my twenty-eight years in the classroom I taught young children in the Central Texas area. In 2001, I retired from the Killeen Independent School District. I had the privilege to teach many children of military families from the Fort Hood area. Because of the military careers, the classroom often represented children who had transferred into the school from different states and countries. This was a wonderful opportunity for cultural awareness and new experiences.
As all conscientious concerned educators do, when teaching new concepts or reviewing for skill and mastery, I searched for picture books or other resources that would inspire one’s imagination and classroom participation. When reading a new book, if the children chanted, mimicked a character, or if they wanted to illustrate a scene from the book then I knew I had chosen a winner!
Young children from two years old to five years old will identify with the family experience in The Grocery Cart Spree Writing ABCs and will actively participate as they follow the story, the alphabet sequence, and the antics of the little boy who gives life to the author’s text.
The Grocery Cart Spree Writing ABCs can be purchased on Amazon.com and Kindle. Please note: All Profit for the book will be evenly distributed between “Wounded Warriors” and Hope for the Hungry www.hopeforthehungry.org .
